Mid-Week Memo from Pastor Jay

Dear Church Family,

I hope your week is off to a great start! We have a lot to celebrate and look forward to in our faith family, but today first and foremost, our hearts are heavy for the people of Uvalde, TX, especially the families of those who lost precious lives in yesterday’s horrific attack. Join me in praying for those families, those caring for them, for the victims who were injured and for the school and community leaders. Pray also for God to use His people to provide care and be the hands and feet of Jesus in this terrible time. May God truly be near to the brokenhearted.

We are celebrating how God is moving at Forest Hills as this past Sunday, we officially welcomed 16 new members to Forest Hills and had a great group attend our Explore FHBC class Sunday afternoon. Make sure you make an effort to welcome our new members as you see and have opportunity to interact with them. And, if you have been around Forest Hills for a while but have yet to take that step to join the family, our next Explore FHBC session is scheduled for Tuesday, June 21.

This Sunday, we will have a special time of worship as we celebrate the Lord’s Supper together. I will be preaching on the significance of the Lord’s Supper and why it is so important that we as a church family gather together to celebrate this special and purposeful meal together. I know it’s Memorial Day weekend and some will be traveling, but if at all possible, please join us in person or online for what will be a powerful worship service. And remember, we start our new worship schedule this Sunday with our Traditional Worship at 8:15am, Sundays School at 9:30am and Modern Worship at 11:00am.

As we look ahead, two things are right around the corner. One, is of course...VBS! We’re so looking forward to what is one of the most transformational weeks of the year for our faith family. I’m so grateful for the 200+ volunteers who have committed to spend that week investing in the next generation and I am excited about the 100’s of kids already registered! Get your kids, grandkids, and all your friends you are bringing with you pre-registered at fhbc.org/vbs! Also, Summer in the Psalms kicks off June 5. I’m looking forward to spending the summer once again in selected Psalms before we get back in to Acts in August!

Have a great rest of your week – I can’t wait to see and worship with you at the Lord’s table on Sunday!

Prepare For Our Fall Launch!

main image

Dear Forest Hills Family,

What an incredible day of worship we shared together this past Sunday! I am so grateful for how the Lord is so clearly and mightily moving on our behalf. It’s clear He is preparing us for something significant. As we enter August and our Fall Launch season, let’s keep praying that bold, declarative prayer we gleaned from Psalm 3 asking God to manifest His presence, to save His people, to break the strongholds of evil, and to work for His glory alone!

As you know, we launch our new Sunday morning schedule this Sunday, August 1! I’m so grateful for your flexibility to take on new things so we can reach and disciple more adults, kids and students. Then the following Sunday, August 8, we have Promotion Sunday when our kids and students will move to their new classes. And, in addition to those Sundays, we have two big Wednesday nights with our Fall Kickoff Carnival and then the launch of our new season of mid-week opportunities for kids, students, and adults. It’s a busy, exciting season!

I want to ask everyone to do four things that will help us maximize this opportunity God has given us:

  1. PRAY – commit to pray over the launch of our new Sunday schedule, the launch of the new 9:30 service, the launch of new Sunday School groups, and the launch of new ministries for the fall. It’s not trite to pray – it’s calling on the power and presence of God to be evident in all these things!
  2. INVITE – as new routines are established and the school year gets started, people are very open to an invite to church. Invite your “ONE” and others to join you this month – between Sundays and Wednesdays, there are countless opportunities for everyone to invite. As you invite, pray for God to move in those whom you are inviting!
  3. SERVE – God has gifted you and wants to use you to make a difference! With all these new opportunities for our church come new opportunities for you to find your place to serve. If you haven’t found your place yet to serve this fall, visit FHBC.org/serve or connect with our staff team.
  4. BE HERE! August is historically a huge month for our church. Let’s commit together to make it the best ever!

We’ve had an incredible summer and I am so looking forward to what God has for us in the church-year to come. I can’t wait to see you Sunday for the launch of our "Advance" series and our new schedule!

Until All Hear,

Jay
